How do I start flight training?


Call to book an introductory flight with Queen City Flying Service! You’ll get to take the controls with a certified instructor and learn about the training process.

What are the requirements to become a pilot?


Anyone may start training at any age, be 16 to fly solo, and 17 to certify. Depending on certification level, there are certain medical requirements.

How long does it take and what is the cost to get a Private Pilot Certificate?


Most clients finish in about 6-12 months; usually, the total cost is between $10,000 and $18,000. These estimates depend on many variables, especially training frequency.

What types of pilot certificates are there?


We offer training for Sport, Private, Instrument rating, Commercial, and Instructor certificates.

What’s the difference between Part 61 and Part 141 schools?


Part 61 offers flexible training and scheduling. Part 141 follows a rigid syllabus and often have higher costs. We are a Part 61 school.

What type of medical certificate do I need?


Generally speaking, professional pilots require a First Class medical. For new pilots, a Third Class medical or BasicMed is sufficient. Read this AOPA article for more information. As of October 2025, Sport Pilot candidates may train with us using their driver license as their medical.

How do I get a medical certificate?


Schedule an exam with an FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). They’ll check your vision, hearing, and overall health. We recommend Aviation Medicine Center or Cincinnati Aviation Medicine.

Can I make a career out of flying?


Absolutely! Many pilots start as instructors, then move on to charter, corporate, cargo, or airline flying.
